The course is the second part of the final-year capstone project for students majoring T&I Studies, which requires the students to apply their knowledge and skills acquired throughout their training in their undergraduate studies to complete an English-Chinese or Chinese-English translation assignment (no less than 4,000 words in English or Chinese) and a commentary of the translated work under the guidance of the supervisors. In this part of the project, the students have already completed their selection of the texts for translation and the trial translation under the guidance of the supervisor. They are expected to finish the rest of the translation assignment under the teacher’s supervision and write up their critique, reflecting on their own efforts in completing the exercise and overcoming the difficulties with appropriate translation strategies.
