This course serves to enhance students’ capacity to communicate in a diverse world. This is accomplished initially by creating awareness of the plethora of diverse intercultural issues that are ubiquitous throughout societies.
This book aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills to be competent and confident intercultural communicators. Using a historical framework that places current topics in context, this seventh edition integrates media as a variable in advancing issues and ideas, offers a full chapter on women and family, and retains a non-biased presentation of all cultures and ethnic groups. It also includes a new focus on social media as well as new challenges evident in ethnic and religious conflict, the role of women, and technology. Many new examples pulled from international events are also included.
