This course aims at enhancing students’ theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of translation project management. It provides students with the opportunity to work in translation/language services projects at translation companies, publishing houses, news agencies or other big corporations. It is expected that through the training and internship experience, students will acquire a good understanding of the important issues relating to some specialised translation areas, and develop the competency to translate specialised texts with the aid of tools and resources. The topics include training of translators and interpreters, ethical and legal sensitivity, useful tools for text processing and business management, localization, and so on.
This book examines the application of project management concepts, tools and techniques to translation and localization projects. Part One focuses on project management in the context of translation and localization business. Part Two explores the application of project management knowledge areas such as the analytical and interpersonal skills and knowledge required to manage projects described by PMI in A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge. Part Three addresses the management of human and organizational factors within the context of translation and localization projects. Part Four examines the integration of project management strategies, tools, techniques and technologies in translation and localization projects.
