Course Description

Public choice is a sub-discipline of economics and political science that attempts to explain the public policy process via economic models. This course analyzes how the collective preferences are aggregated and shape the non-economic decision-making. It examines the classic works of public choice theory, dipping back into the works of Adam Smith and Marquis de Condorcet, and a number of 20th century scholars such as F.A. Hayek, James Buchanan, Gordon Tullock, and other theorists.
