The discipline of probability theory and statistics is the study of situations in which uncertainty and variability play an important role and become an important descriptive and analytical tool in many scientific fields and practical problems. This course develops relevant probability models and theoretical concepts to describe such uncertainties and variability with motivating practical problems. Topics include basic concepts of probability theory, discrete distributions, continuous distributions, generating functions, multivariate distributions, sampling distributions and limit theorems.
